Farne Islands 7th-11th September 2012

Join us on the Northumberland Coast for 4 boat dives on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September. Luxury self catering accomodation has been arranged for 4 nights from Friday 7th September.

Diving around the Farne Islands is a real feast for the senses. Numerous wrecks litter the seabed, and the legendary inquisitive grey seals like to come and play. Whether you prefer a shallow dive or are prepared to delve that little bit deeper, there's something to suit everyone. The Farnes are made up of almost 30 small islands and rock outcrops lying between 2 and 4 miles off the Northumberland coast. They are split into two main groups separated by a stretch of water known as Staple Sound. Most of the diving takes place at the outer Farnes.

When diving the Farnes you'll become acquainted with the locals, the locals being a colony of 4 thousand grey seals. Clumsy on land, they demonstrate balletic movements under the water. The younger seals can be even more inquisitive than the divers and often come in to take a closer look, even nibbling on fins! You'll also see a vast array of anemones, dead men's fingers and many different crustaceans. There are also several relatively unusual species that you may come across, the lumpsucker, Norwegian topknot, yarrel's blenny and the spectacular wolf fish and the huge deep-water anemone, bolocera.

The weekend is open to Open Water divers and above, and non divers are more than welcome.

Cost for the weekend which includes 4 boat dives and 4 nights self catering accommodation is £225 for members and £250 to non members. £135 for non divers. Equipment hire and air fills are extra. Please note we have been given the option of a further days diving on the Monday. This and an additional night accommodation can be arranged at extra cost, please contact us for details.
